About Punta Cana® Resort and Club


In 1969, Mr. Frank Rainieri, a Dominican entrepreneur in his mid-20’s and Mr. Theodore Kheel, a high-powered New York attorney, acquired a 58-million square meter home site on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic which was covered with jungle and over six miles of white sand beach. Their first project was a 40 guest hotel called the Punta Cana® Club.

In 1979, they constructed The Punta Cana® Hotel and in 1984 they built the Punta Cana® International Airport. In 2000, the first of the residential community developments began and six years later Tortuga Bay® Hotel opened, a boutique hotel designed by fashion designer Oscar de la Renta. Punta Cana® Resort & Club has since grown to encompass over 15,000 acres and has served such guests as Henry Kissinger, Charlize Theron, Gabriel Byrne and countless other celebrities and dignitaries. Single family homes can be purchased here as well as exclusive ocean-front, golf-front and ocean-view home sites for custom building. Condominiums overlooking the Hacienda golf course are also available as part of Punta Cana® properties for sale.

Punta Cana® real estate is exclusive and in high demand. About Miches (Future site of Tropicalia® – Four Seasons Resort ®)


Miches is a town in the El Seibo province of the Dominican Republic, close to the Punta Cana region of the country. Miches is a small town which historically has its roots as a fishing town, deriving much of its income and protein from the surrounding waters.

In 2009, a private foundation proposed a business, social and ecological project plan in cooperation with the Dominican government for the responsible development of the area with the hopes of positioning Miches as one of the top tourist destinations in the Caribbean. With an estimated total investment of approximately US$2 billion, this private foundation aspires to become a dynamic force in the economy of Miches and in the region.

Currently plans include the development of a Four Season’s ® branded resort with the Tropicalia ® master planned community. The initiative looks to generate over 3,000 jobs in the short-term, 6,000 medium-term and 14,000 long-term positions for the local people. Recently the President of Dominican Republic signed a contract with the investor group whereby the President began paving all of the streets of Miches in order to make the town look more presentable.
